The National Skills Fund (NSF) notes the continued media interest and requests for
further clarity regarding the Rubicon Communications project, including recent public
statements issued by Rubicon Communications outlining its position. While the NSF
appreciates the importance of public accountability and media scrutiny, it is not in a
position at this stage to provide further comment or respond to specific questions
relating to this matter, as well as other projects currently under investigation by the
Special Investigating Unit (SIU), while the investigation process remains underway.
The NSF is awaiting the formal report and recommendations from the SIU, which will
provide the Fund with a comprehensive basis to communicate the full outcomes of the
investigation, as well as the remedial, governance and implementation measures that
may follow.
Any substantive response to the issues currently being raised in the public domain,
including matters contained in Rubicon Communications’ statement, would run the risk
of prejudicing or jeopardising the integrity of the ongoing investigation process.
In the interest of safeguarding due process and ensuring that the SIU is afforded the
necessary space to conclude its work independently and thoroughly, the NSF will
continue to refrain from further public comment until the investigation has been
finalised and the report has been formally shared with the Fund. The NSF remains
fully committed to cooperating with the SIU and will communicate the way forward
once the findings and recommendations have been received and duly considered.
