FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Pretoria, Monday, 31 August 2026
The National Skills Fund (NSF) has formally terminated its Memorandum of Agreement with Flyfofa Aviation (Pty) Ltd due to persistent contractual non-compliance.
The NSF strongly emphasizes that this cancellation is strictly an administrative action against the service provider. The affected learners bear zero responsibility for these operational issues, and the NSF is taking full accountability to protect their futures.
Protecting Our Students.
“We acknowledge the remarkable dedication, hard work and personal sacrifices made by our learners in pursuing their aviation careers, and we deeply regret the uncertainty and anxiety that this situation has caused. While the NSF remains duty-bound to safeguard public funds and ensure compliance with all applicable requirements, our immediate priority is to ensure that affected learners are supported and afforded every reasonable opportunity to complete their training without being unfairly prejudiced by circumstances beyond their control”, said Ms Melissa Erra, Acting NSF Chief Executive Officer.
Immediate Action & Next Steps for Learners
- Programme Rescue & Transfer: The NSF has initiated a rescue project process to appoint a suitably qualified and fully accredited aviation training provider that will be able to continue and complete the training of the affected learners.
- Tailored Continuation: Each student’s progress—including completed coursework and outstanding flight hours—will be individually evaluated so they can seamlessly complete their qualifications.
- Accommodation Transition: NSF had secured accommodation until 31 August 2026 in order to provide students with an opportunity to make their arrangements to return home, while the rescue initiation is underway.
- Transparent Communication: Following a direct town hall with student representatives on 29 August 2026, the NSF will provide mandatory weekly updates to keep all beneficiaries informed of progress.
The NSF remains resolute in its mission to fund skills development while holding service providers strictly accountable to public governance standards. Further operational details regarding student placements will be communicated directly to learners in the coming days.
