South West Gauteng TVET College hosted a Strategic and Implementing Partners Breakfast on 10 October 2025, bringing together key role players within South Africa’s skills development ecosystem. The event, held in collaboration with other strategic stakeholders, celebrated the impact of partnerships in driving innovation across the country.
In her keynote address, Deputy Minister of Higher Education and Training, Dr Nomusa Dube-Ncube, emphasized the importance of collective action in transforming the Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) sector. South West Gauteng TVET College has continued to distinguish itself as a pacesetter in building strong linkages with industry, government, and communities. This event reaffirmed the College’s commitment to ensuring that the education and training it offers are responsive to the demands of the economy and aligned with the priorities of the Department of Higher Education and Training.
“A strong TVET sector is central to our country’s development,” said Dr Dube-Ncube. “Through collective effort, we can ensure our young people gain not only qualifications but real skills that translate into meaningful work opportunities and entrepreneurship.” Partners play a crucial role in identifying current and emerging occupational skills needs within their respective sectors.
The National Skills Fund partnership with South West College aims to empower individuals and communities by providing access to high-quality training and education that align with current and emerging labour market needs. Through this collaboration, the South West College delivers innovative programmes designed to help learners gain valuable skills, improve employability, and progress in their chosen careers. The partnership supports key sectors identified for growth, ensuring that training opportunities are practical, industry-led, and responsive to local economic priorities. By investing in people and their potential, the National Skills Fund and South West College are working together to build a skilled workforce that drives regional productivity and sustainable development.
The Principal of South West Gauteng TVET College reaffirmed the institution’s commitment to supporting high-impact programmes that respond to the evolving demands of the labour market. He further stated that the Department promotes collaboration between colleges, industry, SETAs, and communities to ensure that skills development initiatives address to both national economic priorities and local labour market needs.
The event concluded with a networking session, providing a platform for stakeholders to share insights, strengthen partnerships, and explore new avenues for collaboration. The Deputy Minister also applauded the industry partners for their willingness to open their workplaces, share expertise, and engage with the College, noting that it is a demonstration of commitment to the skills revolution needed in this country.
The breakfast event served as a powerful reminder that partnerships remain central to building a skilled, employable, and entrepreneurial youth population and that institutions like South West Gauteng TVET College continue to play a leading role in driving this transformation.
